Shanklin Beach

Shanklin beach blends into Sandown beach to the east, and provides visitors with endless golden sands and spectacular scenery of unlimited blue ocean to the south and breath-taking views of the sheer white Culver cliffs at the end of the shore line.

Access to Shanklin beach is good, with stepped access to the beach for those who are more ambulant, or, at the far western end of the beach/esplanade a wide, paved slope provides excellent access for wheelchair users.

Shanklin is very popular with holiday makers due to the high number of hotels and accommodations built at the top of the cliffs.  Access from the top of the cliff is excellent too with a lift running from the top of the cliff directly down to the beach.

Parking is also good with accessible bays running along the esplanade.  Parking is free for three hours with a Blue Badge.

Unfortunately there is no beach matting at Shanklin beach, so please bring your own beach wheelchair if required.  Alternatively, a beach wheelchair can be hired from Sandown beach.

To fully enjoy your day, it is best to know when the tide will be in and out as some beaches become completely covered at high tide.  To find out the best time to visit, please click here for tide times.
